After a successful internship with an advertising agency, I decided to switch gears to marketing, which is how I found my way to Vikon. My career at Vikon was extremely rewarding. Because Vikon was a small startup, I had the opportunity to get my hands dirty and work on things I could have only dreamed of working on at other companies. Though wordsmithing and creativity were critical to my success at Vikon, the most important skills that drove me at Vikon are organization and work ethic. There was always a lot going on at Vikon all the time, so the only way to ever get anything done was to stay organized, stay on top of things, and buckle down and work hard every single day.

Content Creator

My largest role at Vikon was that of content creator. Whether it be sell sheets, email blasts, tradeshow booths, etc., I was the point person for getting it created. Because I was the only marketing person in the company, I did it all - from concept to design to copywriting, I was the one churning out all of Vikon's marketing.

Advertiser

Advertising was another part of my role at Vikon. This aspect of the job involved seeking out publications that fit with the target audiences of Vikon's products. This was one my favorite parts of the job because it meant researching and learning about our customers and figure out the best way to speak to them.

Website Designer

A smaller role at Vikon was the design and maintenance of our website. When I began at Vikon, the website was a low quality website from a website-mill that was riddled with typos and misinformation. Through diligent research, as well as hours of design and copywriting, I revamped the Vikon website not once, but twice (the second time was a rebrand).

You can see Vikon's website here.

Training Expert

Part of being the marketing manager at Vikon meant that I was keenly aware of both the benefits/features of our products, and how they related to our customers. Because of this knowledge, it was also my job to create training programs and lead our sales reps through them so that they could confidently go into the market place and sell our products.
