Leading up to college graduation, I was unsure of what I wanted to do with my life. On a whim I applied for an internship with Intermark and was miraculously hired. This internship was a real eye opener for me. I've always loved words and using them to convince people, but this job pushed my creativity to the limits. For example, I was given a picture of a half naked luchador lounging on a couch and told to write an ad for a roommate-finding company around it. Because of this internship, I am now more confident in my abilities to appeal to certain audiences, no matter how unusual the prompt.
UPS MyChoice
My main role at Intermark was to work with my fellow interns, each of whom represented a different department of the agency, to plan and create deliverables for our client, UPS. At our first meeting with the client, they told us that they wanted help revamping one of their offerings, UPS MyChoice. Our intern group worked together to understand the different market segments and how to appeal to them. Because the client wanted to focus on the market segmentation, rather than advertising, my copywriting extended to inventing personalities for the different segments and giving voice to their different wants and needs.
Books-A-Million
Though Books-A-Million is not currently a client of Intermark, my supervisor asked my art director and me to create some work on spec, the idea being that our work could possibly be pitched to Books-A-Million if they were ever looking to switch advertising agencies. The instructions we were given were to figure out a way to entice people into buying their books at a brick-and-mortar store, not online.
Longo Lexus
While at Intermark, I was given the opportunity to write for a real client, and produce work that they would place on their Facebook page. The instructions the client gave were that they wanted their brand to be equated with luxury.
As of August 2016, my work is still their Facebook cover photo. You can view Longo Lexus' Facebook here.
